General Medrano is a eight-year-old bay gelding by Ocovango. Ocovango’s best progeny includes Grade 3 winner and Cheltenham Festival runner-up Langer Dan and the Grade 1-placed Champ Kiely.
General Medrano has won three times over fences to date, including a Class 2 at Newbury in November' 24, and was second on his most recent start in a £50,000 handicap chase at Doncaster in January. Usually a strong traveller and a sound jumper, General Medrano is currently rated a well above-average 143 and will hopefully continue to progress this season. He's currently being aimed at the Grand Annual Chase at the Cheltenham Festival. He had a wind operation in the summer of 2024.
General Medrano is in training with Emma Lavelle at her enviable base near Marlborough in Wiltshire. Emma's best horses to date include Bouggler, Crack Away Jack, Eclair Surf, Shotgun Paddy and stable star, Paisley Park. She has also enjoyed success with Owners Group mare, Wouldubewell.
General Medrano has a current British Horseracing Authority (BHA) Jumps (Chase) rating of 143 (the average is 107).
